The funding comes from The National Institutes of Health.
University of Rochester researchers received a $2.5 million dollar grant to study stem cells.
Work will focus on tissue regeneration after cancer surgery.
The surgery can lead to bone defects.
Scientists hope to use stem cells to create bone grafts, so that pieces of bone don’t have to be taken from other parts of the body.
