Good Monday morning:

It’s not working, folks.

Coronavirus case numbers are surging across most of the United States and while the death rate remains below its peak, it, too, is rising. While some states, notably New York, have succeeded in arresting new infections, far more states are dealing with skyrocketing increases.  Florida has recently posted the highest single-day rate for new infections and Texas, Arizona and others are on track for similar conditions. While the bio/med community is working tirelessly to develop a vaccine, along with testing and treatment protocols, the US government has failed to deliver leadership at a national level to bring the disease under control.  As a result, our nation’s health and economy will suffer.  Now is not the time for politicization of the pandemic and it’s certainly not the time to attack our own scientific and public health leaders. Rather, we must find the resolve to treat this disease on its terms, not ours.

This Thursday, we’ll be joined by Stephen Thomas, MD, Chief of the Infectious Disease Division at Upstate Medical University, to discuss the impact of the coronavirus pandemic on the testing and treatment of infectious diseases.  We hope you’ll join us for the next installment in our series, Propelling New York Forward.

We rely on our members to make our work possible.  We hope you’ll take a moment to join or renew your membership today.  Renewing members can lock in last year’s rate through 2021.  New members who join today will receive 2 free months on their membership year.  Don’t wait – we need your support to continue the work we do.

As always, don’t hesitate to contact us with your specific questions and concerns. Regular updates can be found at our website, which is refreshed daily.
