SUNY Polytechnic Institute and Metro450, an Israeli consortium of companies and universities, will invest $2.9 million to develop standard calibration wafers.
Metro450 will commit $1.6 million to develop and produce standard calibration wafers to use with 300mm and 450mm tools. SUNY Polytechnic will commit $1.3 million in products, services and tool time. The semiconductor industry is transitioning to 450mm wafer technology.
The initiative will support more than 100 jobs in New York and Israel, according to SUNY Polytechnic. A partnership between SUNY Polytechnic's College of Nanoscale Science and Engineering and the Israeli Office of the Chief Scientist, which oversees the Israeli consortium, formed in 2013.
