MedTech to Hold Syracuse Pre Seed Workshop for High Tech Inventions

WHAT: Pre Seed Workshop (PSW) is a community event where teams build companies—not the physical structures, but the foundational plans. Armedwith a group of experts in the community (technical, legal, business, finance, etc), participants work to determine the viability of new start-up concepts, potentially being spun-out of Universities and other partnering institutions.
WHO: This PSW is the largest in the history of MedTech, featuring five teams, as follows.
Syracuse University Team #1
Amir Torbati is developing technology for non-invasive, live imaging of pediatric nasogastric tubes that avoid the use of harmful ionizing radiation.
Syracuse University Team #2
Vicki R. Brackens is working to launch The World of Cheddar, LLC, a social enterprise dedicated to investigating the power of game play and game mechanics (also known as "gamification") on learning and behavioral change.
Upstate Medical University Team
Dr. Steven Youngentob and Laura Prestia are developing a diagnostic test to determine alcohol use or exposure within a certain number of days. The technology requires the use of oral swabs and gene expression protocols.
University at Albany Team
Michael Stessin is developing a new mathematical method for substantial improvement of resolution of scanning devices, notably, a scanning electron microscope, along with corresponding software and hardware.
Janie Mills, LEED GA, AIC, AC, has invented Responsive House - modular housing, built from environmentally friendly material, to provide emergency housing or add on to your current housing as your needs change.

WHERE: All programmingtakes place at the Syracuse Technology Garden, 235 Harrison Street, Syracuse.
ABOUT: This two-day workshop works to determine the validity bringing high tech concepts to market through a mix of classroom and breakout sessions. Preparing for a live feedback panel on the second day (October 25) of the workshop, participants hone their idea prospects and go-to-market strategies through group interactions and market research. This PSW also features an alumni panel on October 18, where past participants of the workshop will return to discuss their experiences and where their ventures live today.
