MedTech Adds New Industry Leaders to Board of Directors

MedTech Association, a membership-based trade association for the bioscience and medical technology (Bio/Med) industry in New York State, has added six highly-qualified community and industry leaders to its 2018-2019 board of directors. MedTech appreciates the distinguished efforts of its 2017-2018 board and looks forward to advancing the organization's mission with its new directors. Director of Business Development, MPR Associates
Jeff Champagne has been appointed Vice Chair of MedTech’s Board of Directors. Champagne specializes in emerging technologies and research and development, and helps clients gain perspective, define company and product road maps, navigate obstacles and realize objectives to speed up commercialization efforts. Champagne has a background in marketing and business development, with a master’s degree from the University of Hartford.
Head of R&D, Clinical Labs Menu, Ortho Clinical Diagnostics
Joe Chiapperi has extensive experience in new product development, program management, portfolio management, and strategic partnerships. He is a certified process excellence black belt and holds several patents. Joe Chiapperi is an alumnus of the University of Rochester where he earned an MBA from the Simon School of Business and a Bachelor of Science in Optics.
Director of Operations and Innovation Partnerships, CNY Biotech Accelerator
Kathi Durdon, MA, CCRP, has been appointed Secretary of MedTech’s Board of Directors. Durdon develops biotech innovation-oriented programs, coordinates resources and promotes educational and investment opportunities for clients and the startup community and mentors medical device innovators relative to Good Clinical Practice regulations, FDA submission requirements and device classification as well as human factors usability testing. She holds bachelor’s degrees in English and Anthropology and a master’s degree in Business.
Plant Controller, Regeneron Pharmaceuticals
Jim Leggett has been appointed Treasurer of MedTech’s Board of Directors. Leggett has more than 20 years of experience in finance and accounting, including 6 years in public accounting as an auditor. Leggett graduated from the University of Colorado, Boulder with a bachelor's degree in Accounting. He has also held a Certified Public Accounting license since 1995.
CEO, Excell Partners, Inc.
Theresa Mazzullo has been the CEO of Excell Partners since 2006. In her role as CEO, her duties include governance, compliance, reporting, community integration, finance and fundraising. Her fundraising ability has resulted in bringing over $60 million into the upstate ecosystem for investments in high tech startups.
Assistant General Counsel and Assistant Secretary, CONMED Corporation
Sarah Oliker has been appointed Chair of MedTech’s Board of Directors. Oliker has more than 15 years of healthcare experience. Prior to CONMED, she served as senior counsel for ProCure Treatment Centers, Inc. Prior to ProCure, Oliker spent five years with Epstein Becker & Green in its Health Care & Life Sciences group based in Washington, D.C.. Oliker holds a bachelor’s from Colgate University and earned her JD at Syracuse University College of Law.
