This Thursday marks two significant milestones in the 21st Century Cures effort - the Subcommittee on Health will discuss draft legislation as the Cures legislative phase continues, and the hearing will be held exactly one year to the day since Cures was launched. Last week, Chairman Fred Upton (R-MI) hosted Rep. Diana DeGette (D-CO) in Southwest Michigan to meet with local patient groups, students, and innovators to discuss their nonpartisan Cures effort.
Upton and DeGette sat down with WOOD TV’s Rick Albin on “To The Point” to review the unique nature of the initiative, what the committee has heard over the past year, and the next steps for Cures. Upton told Albin, “The president talked about precision medicine during the State of the Union address. We’ll both be talking to the president this week about where we are and we know that he cares about getting this thing done, too. Our goal is to get it signed by him before the end of the year.”
