Toxicology Technician II

Responsible for general department evaluations, testing and data entry


The responsibilities with respect to performing tests and/or calibrations:

  • Performs biocompatibility and quality control testing. Supports research and development.

The responsibilities with respect to the planning of tests and evaluation of results:

  • Compares results to specifications
  • Responsible for reporting out of specification results to leadership

The responsibilities for reporting opinions and interpretations:

  • None

The responsibilities with respect to method modification and development and validation of new methods:

  • Participates in the performance of qualifications and validations.

Managerial duties:

  • None

Additional Responsibilities:

  • Biocompatibility testing
  • Small animal surgery and necropsy
  • Responsible for procedures such as observation, injection, weighing, rectal temperatures, identification, blood collection, extract preparation and animal handling
  • Immunogenicity Testing
  • In vitro (bench) evaluations
  • Documentation via reports, data sheets, work instructions and notebooks
  • Order supplies
  • Monitor animal health
  • Report animal welfare concerns to management
  • Notify veterinary staff as needed and administer necessary treatments
  • Oversee inventory and prepare purchase requisitions as needed
  • Recognize non-conforming product and report to management\
  • Inspect department purchases
  • Works within a GLP/GMP compliant environment
  • All other tasks as assigned by management

To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. The requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge, skill, and/or ability required.

  • AS in biological sciences, with experience or entry level Bachelor’s Degree

Expertise and experience required

  • Entry level position for BS level, or 3 years of experience with AS, or a combination of experience and education.

Qualifications and training program

  • Trained in laboratory techniques
  • Experience in a regulatory environment helpful
  • Experience in animal handling
  • AAALAS certification or Veterinary technologist license a plus


Word processing and spreadsheet skills helpful.


Good verbal and written communication skills. Ability to understand oral and written instructions, procedures and SOP's, as well as ability to give professional presentations in report format.


Geometry, algebra, metric, and computer spreadsheet experience


Ability to prioritize, handle multiple tasks and solve non routine problems.


Must be able to effectively plan and organize.
