Performs a variety of microbiological tests from routine to advanced procedures. Analyze data and investigate results, write, review and approve basic technical reports and records, interact with clients and technical staff.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
Conduct microbiological testing involving routine to advanced procedures
Coordinate and schedule testing as needed
Write technical reports, GMP and GLP protocols and reports
Write and revise work instructions
Review and approve test data and interpretation of results
Review and approve departmental records
Generate, review, and/or approve method validations
Direct and/or performs equipment qualifications, re-qualifications, and annual checklists as needed
Participate in investigations and prepare associated documentation
Review industry standards and regulations, implement changes as needed
Client and vendor contact
All other tasks as assigned by management
Will provide leadership to technicians and/or staff members in the Microbiology department. Responsibilities may include interviewing, training employees, planning, and directing limited work activities.

EDUCATION, EXPERTISE and EXPERIENCE REQUIRED
Associates degree in science and a minimum of 5 years laboratory experience or an equivalent combination of education and experience. Ability to read, understand, and operate laboratory equipment such as steam sterilizers and familiarity with sterilization procedures and laboratory techniques.
Word processing and spreadsheet skills required.
Ability to read, analyze, and interpret technical procedures. Ability to write reports, correspondence, and procedures. Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions. Ability to interpret results and communications in writing. Must demonstrate good scientific terminology.
Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals. Ability to compute rate, ratio, and percent. Normal procedures require ability to determine weight measurements and proportions, prepare dilutions. Must understand scientific equations such as D‑value, SLR, Z‑value, % humidity, and gas concentration. Must know the metric system.
Must be able to schedule tasks, organize time, and plan ahead. Must present a logical approach to conducting scientific experiments.

Combination of Office and Laboratory settings with the potential for occasional exposure to fumes or airborne particles, toxic or caustic chemicals, or biological hazards. Moderate noise levels exist.
