Production Manager

Job Duties & Responsibilities:

  • Plan and manage the evolution, development, and maintenance of the manufacturing of Acumen's reagents and licensed test kits
  • Maintain a manufacturing process roadmap which communicates plans clearly and succinctly
  • Plan and manage the evolution, development, and maintenance of Acumen’s outlines of production documents in compliance with regulatory agencies
  • Plan and manage the systems, business processes and actions related to fulfillment of customer orders which include both reactive and proactive (anticipatory) actions to support distributors, farms, veterinarians, and laboratories in the timely delivery of the Acumen's products and services
  • Plan and manage manufacturing processes within the company to meet relevant regulatory requirements and quality initiatives
  • Lead and inspire your team and, working with HR support and upper management guidance, make hiring and firing decisions for reporting staff, contractors, and interns in your department
  • Form, update and maintain a strategic plan for your department
  • Manage the budget for your department
  • Cooperate with other departments to perform tasks necessary to achieve Acumen's goals
  • Backup and support Director of Product Development, Director of Business Operations or other positions as needed

Requirements:

Education and Experience:

  • Undergraduate degree in analytical chemistry, chemical engineering, chemistry, or other related field, or equivalent practical work experience
  • Experience working in reagent manufacturing or related field including at least 1 year working in a quality, customer success, or supervisory role
  • Experience with USDA licensure, or certifications related to manufacturing or lab operations are a plus

  • Proven ability to lead a team
  • Clear written and verbal communication
  • Analytical and collaborative mindset
  • Experience following GLPs
  • Production, QC, and customer service experience
  • Planning, forecasting, and budgeting
  • Knowledge of PCR, laboratory equipment, and manufacturing processes
  • Significant creative problem-solving abilities

Reporting to this position:

  • Currently there are 3 Production interns who will report to this position
  • Potential for additional future production specialists and/or interns


Anticipated Travel Requirements:

  • 15-25% (1-2 times per quarter)
