Global Product Manager

CONMED is seeking an upstream Product Manager (PM) to join the Advanced Visualization team based in Westborough, MA. The PM will have immediate opportunities to contribute to a growing business and work with cross functional teams to develop surgical imaging and visualization products, including camera systems and peripherals.

The PM will be the person primarily responsible for defining the features and benefits of new products/platforms being brought to market to ensure competitiveness and enable successful global market share growth. The PM will work with clinical and economic stakeholders to gain a keen understanding of the market, the competition, the vectors of competition and what unmet needs exist within the competitive environment.

As the key interface and owner with the customer, the PM will serve as one of three key leaders on a new product/platform development and launch team, in concert with R&D and operations team counterparts. The customer is defined as surgeons, scrub tech, circulating nurse, OR manager, materials manager, hospital system, and global regulatory bodies.

The PM will develop and capitalize on a keen understanding of relevant procedures and all areas surrounding the procedure including central sterile, nurse interface, Surgeon interface, economic and reimbursement considerations, and economic condition considerations, including reimbursement and coding of the procedures.

The PM will own major aspects of the product throughout the development process including but not limited to:

  • Compiling competitive overviews and vectors of competition
  • Constructing business cases to gain approval
  • Working with customers to gain a thorough understanding of the unmet need and the requirements of the product
  • Crystallizing and synthesizing these inputs into clear customer requirements, including identification of critical to quality items and relative importance of the feature sets used to inform sound trade-off decisions throughout the product development process
  • Translating customer requirements into clear design inputs to inform and guide engineering, quality and other members of a cross-functional product development team in the delivery of an innovative product to the market
  • Assessing the need for clinical support and leading efforts to work with clinical and regulatory to gain required evidence
  • Preparing initial launch materials and partnering with downstream marketing to ensure a smooth product launch and commercialization

Position Qualifications:

  • A minimum of five years professional experience is required, including a minimum of two years' experience analyzing new markets and constructing informed business cases on new opportunities, working with cross functional teams in a clinical environment, and working directly with customers to determine overt and latent unmet needs in a market
  • Must be comfortable working in clinical settings (OR, Labs, etc.)
  • Possess an understanding of the clinical requirements of launching a medical device into global healthcare systems
  • Experience working with downstream marketing to prepare launch packets, economic value documents for a value analysis committee and lab training
  • Experience presenting to large groups
  • Experience translating customer voice into customer requirements and then into clear design requirements
  • Experience working in regulated industries, especially design control in US and EU (FDA and CE)
  • Bachelor's degree required
