Engineering Technician III, Hardware

The Opportunity:

As we continue to grow, we are seeking an Engineering Technician III, Hardware who will report to the Project Technical Lead or Hardware Functional Lead within the Research & Development Systems function.  This position will participate in Design Engineering Functions with responsibility for building and testing electro-mechanical hardware prototypes of designs created by design engineers and in cooperation with the design engineering function. Responsibilities include but are not limited to prototype assembly, machine design, failure analysis, problem solving and design verification testing.   Is responsible for continually improving relevant engineering and testing; leadership skills; conduct or manage deliverables, analysis, or processes.  Ensures completion of activities balancing quality, cost, and time. This position is based in Rochester, NY.

The Responsibilities:

  • Conducts prototype assembly, testing, analysis within a larger R&D activity

  • Develop, assemble, and test products to support existing project programs

  • Uses analytical/technical expertise to contribute to product development/testing

  • Support existing product in the field through root cause analysis, obsolescence, and continuous improvement

  • Ensures completion of activities within compliance and on time

  • Identifies and implements process level efficiencies

  • Within guidelines, has flexibility as to method, priority, and timing of job duties

  • May be responsible for project or process reporting and tracking

  • May oversee reporting or regulatory processes or parts of processes

  • Travel to suppliers in support of concurrent engineering, supplier involvement and failure investigation, as required

  • Perform other work-related duties as assigned


The Individual:

  • Minimum High School Degree required. Associates Degree in an Engineering discipline is preferred.

  • Minimum 3 years’ experience with an Associate degree, or minimum 6 years equivalent work experience is required.

  • Must have Subsystem and system engineering experience.

  • Must have Product Engineering and Development Experience.

  • Machining experience is preferred.

  • Less than 10% domestic/international travel required.
