The Opportunity

The Engineer 1 (Mechanical) will be responsible for providing technical product support for existing Ortho products, including reliability improvements and component obsolescence management. This position will also support product design and new product development. This position is located in Rochester, NY.

The Responsibilities

  • Responsible for accurate and thorough handling of data collection, technical analysis, summary of findings and production of reports.
  • Uses deductive reasoning to solve a variety of basic engineering problems.
  • Conducts routine research and troubleshooting activities for basic reports
  • Develops methods and tests on projects of limited scope and complexity within defined engineering practices and policies.
  • Prepares reports, summarizes data and recommends solutions to routine problems.
  • Performs other duties, as assigned.
  • BS with 0 to 2 year’s experience, MS with no experience; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Must be able to apply basic theoretical and practical application of one of the following engineering disciplines: Biomedical, Chemical, Chemical Process, Electrical, Software, Mechanical, and Manufacturing Processing.
  • Ability to use standardized test equipment to solve a variety of basic technical problems related to the development, testing, calibration, validation and maintenance of experimental, prototype and existing laboratory and manufacturing equipment.
  • Working knowledge of emerging technology trends.
  • Basic experience with the application of engineering design skills, a general understanding of field service practices, and basic engineering trouble shooting skills.
