We are seeking a driven supply chain or business management program graduate with strong critical thinking and execution abilities to join the team as a Buyer/Planner.

As a Buyer/Planner at CONMED, you will work alongside seasoned professionals with purchasing, planning and supply management in a regulated production environment. You will work with LEAN inventory tools, order processing tools, warehouse management programs and quality systems and procedures. You will utilize operations business acumen through conducting analyses such as cost savings, return on investment calculations and supplier rationalization activities. Your efforts in problem solving, innovation and cross-functional collaboration will directly contribute to taking the site's safety, quality, delivery and cost metrics to the next level.

Responsibilities Include:

  • Issue purchase orders to approved suppliers to obtain materials at the lowest cost consistent with quality, reliability and urgency of need.
  • Monitor schedule compliance and report any non-compliance to management.
  • Analyze quotes for raw materials from suppliers, negotiate purchase agreements, resolve quality issues with suppliers and manage supplier performance to our requirements.
  • Monitor supplier performance and achieve goals for supplier on-time delivery for supplier on-time delivery to meet production needs.
  • Perform transactions such as production reporting, transfers, scrap, cycle counts, purchase order entry, and other ad-hoc duties/projects.
  • Participate in Lean initiatives as a team member supporting Kaizen events.
  • Interface with various department supervisors, managers, suppliers, etc. to ensure materials and flow of work meet desired schedules and customer orders.
  • Visit suppliers to audit procedures and to evaluate facilities and the organization overall.

Experience Requirements:

  • Bachelor's degree and internship or equivalent experience, or a Master's degree with a focus on Supply Chain Management.
  • Knowledge in the field of Production Control and Sales and Operations Planning, Purchasing and supplier management preferred.
  • Knowledge of MPS/MRP systems preferred.
