UR Researcher Gets Pair of Grants

Two grants totaling $430,000 for a researcher at the University of Rochester are designed to help in national defense efforts as well as energy reduction costs, Rep. Louise Slaughter announced Monday.
Slaughter, D-Perinton, supported optical physicist Chunlei Guo’s application to the U.S. Army Research Office that resulted in an award of more than $330,000 in the research of new functionalities for metals. She also helped him secure an additional $100,000 from New York State Energy Research and Development Authority to develop materials for high-efficiency air conditioning.
