Nellie Drew has been involved in sports law ever since she developed her thesis on exploring conflict resolution in the National Hockey League.

With the help of Gerry Meehan, then-assistant general manager of theBuffalo Sabres, over the course of a school year she got a chance to speak with Seymour Knox and family, who owned the team at the time, as well as Alan Eagleson, former director of the NHLPA, andRobert Swados, former counsel to the NHL and Sabres. Drew made a lasting impression on them and it helped catapult her career.
