Rochester Institute of Technology has received a $495,000 grant from the National Institute of Standards and Technology to develop technologies to accelerate the growth of the advanced manufacturing industry in the United States, officials announced Wednesday.
Rep. Louise Slaughter, D-Perinton, announced the grant, which was awarded by NIST’s Advanced Manufacturing Technology Consortia Program.
The grant will allow RIT to pursue its Consortium Formation and Technology Roadmap Development for Remanufacturing in the Circular Economy program, which will establish an industry-led consortium to research, identify and solve high-priority technological challenges faced by advanced manufacturers.
“Rochester has an important role in reinvigorating our manufacturing, particularly in advanced manufacturing, like optics and photonics. This grant greatly enhances our chance to expand and rebuild the local economy, and I congratulate RIT,” Slaughter said.
