The University of Rochester Medical Center’s Clinical Translational Science Institute has won some $19 million from the National Institutes of Health, UR officials said Wednesday.
The grant is the third round of NIH money the URMC institute has won. Beginning with $40 million initial grant in 2006, UR’s CTSI so far has won $86 million from NIH’s Clinical Translation Science Award fund.
Ten years ago, the URMC institute was one of the an initial dozen federally sponsored CTSI research hubs to be established as part of an ambitious initiative whose aim was to create a nationwide network that would reshape the way U.S. medical research is done.
