MedTech Association is proud to celebrate its ten year anniversary of serving as a membership based trade association for the bioscience and medical technology (Bio/Med) industry in New York State. In the last year alone, MedTech’s membership grew by close to 30 percent, representing 107 members. This year MedTech also introduced its annual industry report, Bio/Med Breakthroughs (nybiomedreport.com) at its annual conference, MEDTECH 2014, and has increased advocacy efforts.
MedTech was founded in 2004 by Bristol-Myers Squibb, CONMED, Sensis Corporation and Welch Allyn with the mission to develop the relationships, tools and programs that enable New York State companies to bring tomorrow’s medical solutions to the healthcare marketplace. MedTech strives to form an organized and nationally recognized Bio/Med region where companies and professionals seek to do business.
“We are so excited to be celebrating MedTech’s 10 year anniversary,” said Jessica Crawford, MedTech president. “Surpassing the milestone of 100 members is representative of the growing Bio/Med industry in New York State, which employs nearly 75,000 in the biosciences. We are proud to continue serving our members, as we have for the last 10 years, and expand our service offerings to make an impact on the industry that contributes $40 billion in state economic output.”
MedTech’s growth is a testament to the necessity of the organization to the Bio/Med community, boosting the prosperity of its members by connecting them for collaboration, offering educational programs, sharing news and information and advocating for the industry with government leaders.
The Bio/Med community represents nearly 75,000 jobs in New York State, $5.7 billion in total wages and salaries in 2012, with an average wage of $76,112, more than $30,000 greater than the overall private sector. MedTech strives to continue growing the impact, leveraging the robust Bio/Med industry and prominent academic institutions to bolster New York State’s economy.
