Representatives of three major area companies — IBM, GlobalFoundries and General Electric — told local business and government leaders Wednesday that a friendly business climate and good infrastructure were critical to their growth in the Capital Region.
Speaking at Pat's Barn at the Rensselaer Technology Park in North Greenbush, Thomas Caulfield, senior vice president and general manager of GlobalFoundries' Fab 8, said that "in manufacturing, (infrastructure) is everything," adding that GlobalFoundries wanted to make sure there would be enough infrastructure available to build a next-generation fab in Malta.
