The Opportunity: As the company transitions, we are seeking a Calibration Technician II for Reagent Manufacturing Operations, located in Rochester, NY. As part of the Calibration group, you will provide metrology technician support for a diverse collection of equipment used in Manufacturing and Lab areas. Under limited supervision, you will complete or coordinate the completion of calibrations within their due dates. You will also provide technical advice to engineering and management and deliver training to other employees for items relating to calibration requirements. In addition, you will inspect, calibrate, adjust, test, document and maintain equipment, components, devices and systems. You will also thoroughly document work activities via a Computerized Maintenance Management System, as well as completing various other computer-related tasks (time reporting, spare part retrieval, document management, on-line training). You may also be called upon to address, troubleshoot and repair calibrated devices as part of a centralized shop supporting a high speed manufacturing and packaging environment running 24 hours per day, 7 days per week. In addition, you will work as part of a team of Operations, Engineering and Maintenance personnel and therefore must thrive in a cross-functional collaborative environment. You must demonstrate experience working collaboratively with team members to complete tasks and Company goals, planning, scheduling and follow-through with one’s own work with minimal direction from supervision.

The Responsibilities: * Performs up to the most complex equipment calibrations as directed utilizing approved procedures and standards. * Captures and documents all relevant calibration data per department procedures. * Coordinates the collection, packaging, shipping and receiving of equipment that is sent to an outside vendor for calibration or repair. * Secures and oversees the activities of contract calibration providers on a variety of analytical equipment and instruments and ensures tasks are performed in compliance with approved procedures. * Determines acceptability of calibration reports based on data analysis and conformance to specifications and procedures. * Creates and owns purchase orders to obtain calibration and repair services. * Reviews and approves calibration procedures to ensure technically defensible standards, methods, and procedures for inspecting, testing and evaluating the precision, accuracy and reliability of the equipment, instruments and processes are maintained. * Serves as back up for generating calibration due listing and reports from the CMMS system (Maximo). * May assist in the development and implementation of technical software applications that are QSSDVDesign Control validated which enhance and drive department productivity and customer tools with regard to calibration operations. * Participates in the full life cycle of calibration related quality records such as OOT, NC, RCI and CAPA. * Participates and may take lead in identification of improved department process and mapping. * Advises and works with Engineering to release new equipment into the production process. * Provides advice, guidance, training and development to less experienced technicians. * May represent the calibration group on technical matters in dealing with the Engineering, management and regulatory agencies at the professional level. * Completes all appropriate health, safety and environmental hazard training. * Responsible for communicating business related issues or opportunities to next management level. * Responsible for ensuring personal and company compliance with all Federal, State, local and company regulations, policies and procedures for Health, Safety and Environmental compliance. * Maintain good working relationship with all maintenance and manufacturing personnel. * Participate In Continuous Improvement Projects and contribute to the success the lean manufacturing effort. * Develop new concepts into existing systems with particular emphasis on process repeatability, consistency, quality, controls & automation and cost reduction. * Drive achievement of expected results for each project, while providing frequent results updates to peers and upper management. * Thinks conceptually and intuitively from a lean prospective. * Drives for continuous improvement. * Performs other related duties as assigned. * Adhere to all company safety and site policyregulations. * Is available for weekends, or overtime work on a scheduled or emergency basis as required. * Performs other related duties as required or assigned by supervisor.


* High school diploma is required; AssociatesCertification in related trade or apprenticeship preferred. * 5+ years of hands on relative work experience to calibrationQA laboratory andor training, or an A.A. degree and 3 years of experience with at least 50% of experience working as a Technician in calibrationmetrology is a must. * Military PMEL or ASQC Certified Calibration Technician certification or equivalent is desired. * Detailed experience with quality management systems (ISO-9001, ISO-1430, MIL-STD-790, etc) and FDA regulated industry highly desirable. * Ability to work collaboratively in a cross-functional team environment with both salaried and hourly personnel to meet the needs of the department, manufacturing, and the business. * Ability to work in the plant reacting to problems and improvementssolutions is desired. * Excellent communication and interpersonal skills is desired. * Enjoys being on the floor hands-on with all teams to drive performance improvements is desired. * Highly motivated and high initiative is desired. * Ability to work independently, set priorities, and drive results at the same time able to work on a production team driving team goals is desired. * Hands-on approach with all teams to initiate and drive success is required. * Highly motivated, self-starter with an ability to meet deadlines is required. * Desired computer skills to include: Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook, etc.), Maintenance CMMS systems.
